Year 12 A level Maths Problem Solving Day
- To allow students to discuss and try out problem solving strategies, to think about different ways of looking at example problems and how to approach writing solutions.
- To provide students with an opportunity to begin to increase their depth of mathematical understanding and so gain confidence in attempting the more problem-solving based questions.
Who will benefit from attending?
Year 12 students who are currently studying A level Maths.
Problem-solving is a key component of the new AS & A levels and Maths. This conference gives students a chance to develop their problem-solving skills through a variety of different activities, so that students are more confident in dealing with the problem-solving aspect within the A level syllabus.

0900-0940- Introduction and setting the scene
0945-1045- workshop 1
1045-1100 - Break
1100-1200- workshop 2
1200-1245- Lunch (students to bring packed lunch)
1245-1325- Second session (joint)
1330-1445- workshop 3
1450-1510 - Plenary +evaluation
