Using Geogebra - CPD Event for KS5 Mathematics Teachers

Overview

This course is designed to support teachers with using GeoGebra across a wide range of contexts in the Mathematics classroom. The methods are particularly applicable in the A level Maths classroom, but are designed for a toolbox of methods which can be used to illuminate a much wider range of maths including GCSE and Core Maths.

Aims

  • To improve your skills in use of Geogebra for teaching GCSE, A-level Maths and Core Maths
  • To have time to play with the software and experiment with possible uses
  • To explore how to use technology with students in the classroom

Who will benefit from attending?

All teachers of post-16 maths.

Content

  • Introduction to the software, and time to explore and create.
  • Time for questions and discussion .

1000-1115 Session 1 - Introduction to the software and hands on time to explore and create

1115-1130 Break

1130-1300 Session 2 - Demonstrations of example uses of Geogebra, for teacher use, and student use in the classroom.  Plus more hands on time!

1300-1330 Lunch

1330-1430 Session 3 - Using Geogebra for Statistics (including Large Data Set and Core Maths) and online resources.  Plus more hands on time of course!

1430-1500 Final session - Free exploration with the opportunity to ask for input on any aspect of using the technology in the classroom.

1500-1515 Summary and feedback

Materials and Equipment

You will need to bring a device with GeoGebra installed on it (preferably laptop or tablet). This can be downloaded for free.

Cost

This CPD event is free for delegates from state-funded schools registered with the AMSP.
