Core Maths: A Fresh Approach to Teaching Mathematics - Area Coordinator organised day
An engaging event focused on supporting teachers with the delivery of the increasingly popular Core Maths qualifications.
- To provide teachers with an opportunity to explore resources and teaching approaches that will keep the context alive.
- To give information about the different specifications and forms of assessment.
- To network with new and experienced teachers of Core Maths.
Who will benefit from attending?
This course is suitable for anyone who is already teaching Core Maths this academic year, or for teachers who are interested in finding out more prior to teaching Core Maths.
State-funded schools, colleges and academies can apply to this course for free.
The day will be split into two sessions:
|Session 1 - For teachers who are currently teaching Core Maths. This session will focus on getting the most out of the pre-release materials and preparing your students for the upcoming assessments.|

|12:00||Sharing experiences with other teachers of Core Maths, with a particular focus on areas of the course that your students have found challenging|

|Session 2 - For teachers and SLT who are thinking of/will be teaching Core Maths from September 2019|

|15:30||What is Core Maths, who is it for and how can you introduce it in your school?|
|16:40||A hands on model lesson to explore how the approach to delivering Core Maths is different to GCSE|
