Bradford KS5 Network

Teaching and Learning A level Mechanics

Overview

Bradford KS5 Teacher Network is an AMSP-funded project allowing teachers of maths to meet, to collaborate and to share professional development. We meet termly and the programme is a mixture of informal sessions and training events.

Content

This workshop is led by Pietro Tozzi who has been teaching for over 30 years and recently wrote some of the Pure and Mechanics schemes for the reformed A level Mathematics. The session will focus on teaching & learning methodology for a selection of Mechanics topics which were in the legacy ‘Mechanics 2’ module, but are now in AS/AL Mathematics. This is aimed at delegates who have previously only taught ‘Mechanics 1’ or have no previous experience of teaching Mec hanics.

You will cover two of the topics which delegates vote for on the day from a choice of: Kinematics using Calculus (AS/AL), Projectiles (AL) & (Moments) Ladder & Hinge Problems (AL). You will be given a link at the end of the session to a complete set of resources for the reformed A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics courses.
