Raising Confidence with Technology in the GCSE classroom
This one-day course focuses on developing technology skills for secondary education teachers. It provides strategies and ideas for teachers to use immediately in their classrooms to develop the skills of their students. There will be opportunities to consider how these concepts and resources could be embedded in professional practice and contribute towards the ambition and intent of the department's curriculum.
- To share ideas and strategies for developing technology within your mathematics curriculum for all of your students.
- To provide support in developing your professional practice and that of departmental colleagues.
- To consider how your department can develop your curriculum in line with the 2019 Ofsted Framework.
Who will benefit from attending?
Teachers who wish to improve their teaching of GCSE maths and/or the skills of their students.
Please note: This course also ran in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 academic years so teachers who attended these courses should not apply.
Raising Confidence with Technology aims to develop the technology skills of secondary teachers. These skills are transferrable across all aspects of maths teaching, but the content mostly focuses on Higher Tier GCSE topics.
There will be opportunities to share ideas and strategies for working with students and technology. Delegates will be given resources, as well as having the opportunity to create bespoke files to support their students. There is full tutor support throughout the day.
Materials and Equipment
Delegates are requested to bring a laptop or tablet with GeoGebra installed on it. GeoGebra can be downloaded free from geogebra.org. No previous experience of using the software is required.
Raising Confidence with Technology is free to state-funded schools and colleges.
If you are working in a state-funded school or college, participation in this course attracts a £100 subsidy, subject to engagement and completion of the course.
Schools and colleges located within Priority Areas are eligible to receive a further subsidy of £150 to support staff cover and travel costs.
