Summary

There is evidence to suggest that while problem solving and fluency is improving at GCSE, students still find reasoning and thinking mathematically difficult. This one-day course focuses on the development of reasoning from KS2 through to GCSE. It provides strategies and ideas for teachers to use immediately in their classrooms to develop the skills of all of their students. There will be opportunities to consider how these concepts and resources could be embedded in professional practice and contribute towards the ambition and intent of the department’s curriculum.

Feedback from previous courses:

‘Very thought-provoking’

‘I really enjoyed the modelling and how they would narrate as they were thinking through the question.’
