Teaching Statistics Using the Edexcel Large Data Set

This half-day course is designed to support teachers in learning how to best support students in learning statistics through Edexcel’s large dataset.

Aims

  • To encourage teachers to see the LDS as a resource to enhance their content teaching
  • To provide teachers with ideas for lessons to give confidence in using the LDS in lessons
  • To give teachers time to work on developing their own ideas

Who will benefit from attending?

The course is suitable for all teachers of A level Mathematics, teaching on the Edexcel board.

Content

This half-day course is designed to support teachers in learning how to best support students in learning statistics through Edexcel’s large dataset.

Materials and Equipment

You will need to bring a laptop, pre-loaded with the Edexcel Large Data Set, and with a spreadsheet package (Excel, or a package with matching functionality) and GeoGebra (Classic). We will send links to the necessary files.

Course Leader: Carol Jones

Carol is an AMSP Associate and has run many workshops on the A level Large Data Sets.

Course fee is free for any state-funded schools. Refreshments will be provided.
