NW Online PD Pick 'n' Mix Network

Making Connections in GCSE Mathematics

The NW Online PD Pick 'n' Mix Network is a series of themed sessions to support Maths Teachers. It will be ideal for any teachers including those who have recently started teaching, or just someone who wants some new teaching ideas.

  • the Pick 'n' Mix design allows teachers to dip into as many or as few sessions as they like
  • there will be a strong emphasis throughout the sessions on pedagogy, problem-solving and technology

"Making Connections" was originally run in December 2021 as part of the NW GCSE Winter Series.

Have you ever taught graphs with sequences, or expanding and factorising with area?

This session will focus on making connections between different topics in GCSE Mathematcs, enabling teachers to support their students to see these links and improve their understanding of mathematics as a whole.  The ideas discussed in this session can also help teachers to cover content more efficiently, allowing time to revisit and build on understanding.
