The NW Online PD Pick 'n' Mix Network is a series of themed sessions to support Maths Teachers. It will be ideal for any teachers including those who have recently started teaching, or just someone who wants some new teaching ideas.
- the Pick 'n' Mix design allows teachers to dip into as many or as few sessions as they like
- there will be a strong emphasis throughout the sessions on pedagogy, problem-solving and technology
Content
Are you sometimes guilty of "death by worksheet"?
Do you ask your students to practise skills ad nauseum with dry, uninspiring exercises?
Taking inspiration from Colin Foster's Mathematical Etudes Project, we'll look at some alternatives to boring worksheets and text books.
In particular, we will share some practical classroom tasks which not only embed extensive practice of important mathematical procedures, but they do it within more stimulating, rich problem-solving contexts.
