Ipswich Summer Snack

Ipswich

Overview

Summer Snack is a fun educational challenge for Year 9 students which tests problem-solving and teamwork skills. It is based on this year’s Maths Feast. Teams of four students will test their maths skills with our all-you-can-eat feast of problems!

There are several rounds requiring different skills and strategies for success. Each event takes between two and three hours, and we will celebrate good teamwork and for the winning team of each round.

Who will benefit from attending?

Summer Snack is suitable to all higher achieving Year 9 students who want to improve their mathematical and teamwork skills.

Content

What's on the menu? Well, that would be telling...

We change the format and content of Summer Snack every year to keep the challenge exciting. However, we promise that content will be familiar or accessible to most Year 9's and could include both recreational and more traditional maths problems.

For practice, suitable resources and materials from previous Maths Feasts are available here

Other Information

Calculators and equipment such as rulers and protractors are not permitted - this competition is based on your brain power alone!

Eligibility

Year 9 students only, teams of four students. Each team must be accompanied by a teacher or teaching assistant. Schools can enter one or two teams, schools must bring one responsible adult per team; however, in the case of the additional teams, this could be sixth former. If you are an 11-16 school please contact Chris Savage if bringing a second adult presents a problem.
