A day for girls to get together to hear about mathematics in use in various careers, to find out about the options available in Mathematics at post 16 level and to have fun working on mathematics problems together.

Aims

  • To ensure students are aware of the maths options available to them after GCSE.
  • To give students a broader knowledge of where their maths can take them.
  • To have fun working on unusual maths problems as a team and learning about mathematics

Who will benefit from attending?

Year 10 students in girls' schools in the East Midlands who are likely to be studying A levels (not necessarily maths)

9.45 - 10.00 Arrival and Welcome

10.00-10.15 Introduction and Overview

10.15- 11.00 Presentation 1

11.05 - 11.50 Quiz 

11.55- 12.40 Presentation 2

12.40- 13.20 Lunch

13.20 - 14.00 Quiz results, Q&A and Plenary

Applications are welcome from State funded and Independent Girls schools
