Overview
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area huge interest for students; however, many students are unaware of how mathematics is fundamental to the development of machine learning and AI. This webinar introduces Mathematics teachers to the maths and statistics behind machine learning and AI, including a variety of examples that use techniques from A level Mathematics or A level Further Mathematics.Aims
- To develop teachers' understanding of how mathematics and statistics underpin machine learning and AI
- To demonstrate how ideas related to machine learning and AI relate to the content of A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics
Following the delivered content there will be an optional 30-minute question and answer session
Who will benefit from attending?
Any teacher who is interested in how the content of A level Mathematics/Further Mathematics is used in machine learning and AI.Content
The webinar will feature information about how maths and data skills are used in the development of AI. Opportunities for linking this to the content of A level Mathematics/Further Mathematics will also be highlighted. It will focus on three main areas:
- Data analysis: the importance of sound data analysis skills in building AI
- Machine learning: how to use data to build predictive models and the maths used in selected machine learning algorithms
- Artificial intelligence: the ethical implications of using data-driven models to build AI
